Yin yoga is a slow yoga practise where the asanas are held for a period of time to allow the tissues deep within the body to stretch and lengthen safely. For this reason the moon is directly linked to the cool, slow practise of yin yoga and perfectly complements the stronger, warmer practise of hatha yoga. If you would like to know more about this style of yoga please click on the following link:
I carry out a monthly yin yoga class held in the studio around the dates of the full moons. Please see the full moon calendar for 2025 and the names identified with each of the moons:
13th January Wolf Moon
12th February Snow Moon
14th March Worm Moon
13th April Pink Moon
12th May Flower Moon
11th June Strawberry Moon
10th July Buck Moon
9th August Sturgeon Moon
7th September Harvest Moon
7th October Hunter's Moon
5th November Beaver Moon

Some people believe that the moon influences our health and behaviour, what do you believe? Have a read of this web page to understand more about it.

There is a also a specific flow of yoga poses called a 'moon salutation' or 'chandra namaskar' in Sanskrit which I like to perform during the week of a full moon. This flow is different to the more linear sun salutation flow (surya namaskar) which builds heat. It is a slower, cooler practise incorporating poses such as triangle pose, pyramid pose and garland pose.
